Gene, you left a big hole in the boating content when you left, not to

Oh, give it a chance. There's not a whole lot of boating going on anywhere right now.

Maybe, but we were out last week....

Likewise, and I work on at least one of the boats just about every

southern Bahamas right now but our first grandchild is due on Friday
so we'll be heading north instead.

With the weather up north, you maybe should start now. ;)

I am thinking of taking a buddy out Saturday for some shark and ray
fishing. He has a kid in his church that is working on a fishing merit
badge, but has not yet caught a fish. Drop the crab pots outside the
Golden Gate on the 4 fathom bank and then go catch and release sharks. The
bay's shark run from small leopard and smooth hound sharks up to a about
200 pound seven gills, and some soup fin sharks. The leopard sharks are
good eating, minimum size 36". Lots of Bat Rays. Most in the 10-15#
range. I have landed years ago, an 80# one.

Never been to Kauai. We were going about 20 years ago for our 25th

to Maui instead. Thought about it this winter, but wife is going to a
college sorority luncheon in Houston, and then the South Pacific trip.
Have a fun, warm trip, Tim.

I won't dispute there were that many boating posts, but I will say the board was very informative and lighthearted in 'the day'...

Yes, and we had a good mix of interesting people like Wayne "Clams"

Canino, Larry from Charleston, Short Wave Tom, Chuck Gould and many

others. A lot of people stopped telling their more interesting

boating stories after Harry started putting everyone down. I guess

that's all he had left once everyone realized what a fraud he was. The

spoofing and sock puppet epidemics chased away a lot of good people

also.

Unfortunately a lot of folks have moved on to web based moderated

forums. There are some benefits to that but it tends to fragment the

knowledge base and doesn't have the same character.

I barely remember Karen (I believe) who had her giant diesel outboard powered 'frigate' and her dislike for Ficht outboard engines.

And Peggy the sanitizer who had a lot of good stuff concerning keeping bildges clean, odors removed and getting rid of mold.

Sad they're gone.

That sounds like a blast. Good luck. One of my grandsons is working on getting his Eagle Scout. When
he does, I'm thinking I'll get him a Henry lever action .22. He got his rifle badge this past year,
and loves shooting.

Yes, both Karen and Peggie were driven off by U-No-Hoos never ending
stream of insults. Peggie is still a major contributor on other
forums however, and also has a book available:

http://www.amazon.com/Get-Rid-Boat-Odors-Aggravation/dp/1892399156

She is OK with being called the Head Mistress, but the Princess of
Poo, not so much. U-No-Hoo is alleged to have once had an unpleasant
confrontation with her at a boat show. Don't know it's true or not.

With Karen it was always humorous to try and decode her Australian
slang expressions.
