Hey Scott Ingersoll

Think, ice, 500cc 100 hp. Methanol burner, almost no suspension, no left foot peg, and only one gear but a couple hundred spikes. no brakes, all on about a 1/3 mile oval track.

Speedway racing. Jess needs to expand her horizons...

The action starts at about 2:15

We are expanding, and have looked at that kind of racing. We signed up
for a street race a couple weeks back but it got cancelled so we raced
on 4 wheels... I won my first race ever, but it was the womens class I
ended up racing in so I got disqualified for carrying "illegal spare
parts" :) and Jess got the trophy.... It was a blizzard that night and a
make up event so they gave me a free race as long as I didn't mind
racing the girls... I came in last in the first moto, but had the best
lap time in the second moto and it was about lap times:) Jess loved
racing on 4 wheels, hummmmmmm....

I've never ridden in a go-cart on a track, or anywhere else for that matter. I'd like to, one of
these days. There used to be a track pretty close to the house, down on Eisenhower Blvd, but I think
the Alexandria jail is there now.

Probably where all those go-karters went too!

Back to Tim's post... Jess wouldn't do that I don't think. One, with
practically no body fat, she hates the cold... Second, when we tried to
get her to do GPX last year she wanted jumps and banked corners:) We may
go do an ArenaCross race this year but I am not sure if she is quite
ready for that meat grinder yet... Well, I think she's ready but if she
doesn't, we are not gonna' do it... ArenaCross would be a step up in
competition, would be the best in the country and it's a tough track....

After a cart ride at the track, let someone else drive you home. You will
want to hit the corners to fast in a street vehicle for a while,

You are not kidding... It was a blizzard that night so I went home at 30
all the way, took almost three hours to go 60 miles with stops to clean
wipers, etc...

However, even the next day I found myself "seeing" corner lines and
driving to them in my truck, had to put myself in check a couple times....

Back about 50 years ago, was a track next to Berkeley and just by the
freeway on ramp. My buddy in front of me went up the on ramp mostly
sideways. ;)
