Well, of course...why would you be interested in his remarks...after

all, you're not a papist. Funny stuff.

Oh, I did want to say that "Papist" is a derogatory term, but I am sure

you knew that. Right?

Yep and like I said. I'm not a "Papist" - And I don't follow the dictates of a Pope.

Whether they are Catholics or not, hundreds of

millions of people around the world are interested in what the Pope says

or writes. He's got lots of your fellow protestants up in arms with his

dismissal of prosperity theology, among other things. :)

ok...

You're right. I'm not a Papist...

I posit that most people of intelligence, whether they are Catholic or
not, take note of what the Pope says, since he is the primate of the
world's largest christian church, even when they disagree with him. It
strikes me as extraordinarily ironic that so many prominent protestants
are speaking out against what the Pope has been saying and writing
recently.

I'm not a religious person, as is well known. But I read what the Pope
writes and what he says and pay attention to what he does. So did Time
Magazine, which, in naming him its person of the year, noted:

"The former Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected in
March as the first pope from Latin America and the first Jesuit. Since
taking over at the Vatican, he has urged the Catholic Church not to be
obsessed with "small-minded rules" and to emphasize compassion over
condemnation in dealing with touchy topics like abortion, gays and
contraception.

"He has denounced the world's "idolatry of money" and the "global
scandal" that nearly 1 billion people today go hungry, and has charmed
the masses with his simple style and wry sense of humor. His appearances
draw tens of thousands of people and his @Pontifex Twitter account
recently topped 10 million followers.

"He really stood out to us as someone who has changed the tone and the
perception and the focus of one of the world's largest institutions in
an extraordinary way," said Nancy Gibbs, the magazine's managing editor.

"The Vatican said the honor wasn't surprising given the resonance in the
general public that Francis has had, but it nevertheless said the choice
was a "positive" recognition of spiritual values in the international
media."

*****

Apparently you protestants are obsessed with small-minded rules, and are
more interested in condemnation rather than compassion, and believe in
the idolatry of money. The Pope comes across like a social worker, and
you protestants come across like Mitt Romney.

I wonder who the world will listen to...

Unlike you, I don't have psychotic problems interfering with my ability

You don't have to go nearly that far. Unless you have seen Hati, the
Dominican Republic or the slums of Mexico, you really don't know what
poverty is all about.

True. Vietnam had it's share, and I'm sure it still does. I put that link up as an example of what
the Pope was talking about. It sure as hell wasn't the welfare recipients in this country.

Wow, Harry. I didn't know all that about myself. Where have I been all these years?
