BIMINI PART 2

I still need info because with dead reckoning I make 7.2 miles at
6knots.Every one (2-3) put Bimini out form Miami 18 aprox gulf stream is 5
knots north by north east Trade- wind east So Ill close hauled all the time
I was told by two people to cross over at Rodriguez Key the sailing is
longer but better because you have the stream on your side and don't need to
tack. But the same people that gave me this info say it's 24hours out to
Andros. The reason I would like imput is because we will be doing it by
compass no GPS. One sailer who been there and done that said no worriers
Collage boys do it on Cats with 2-3 cases of beer. Now useing this as a
mussure 2-3 case time it will take me 48 hrs. I am a slow drinker. And just
nurse my beer.

BIMINI PART 2

Hi Marklan,
We have found AngelFish Creek is a good jumping off point. It has good
protection as an anchorage, but set two anchors as the tide is quite strong
there. It is an easy jump to the ocean from there. You should figure your time
based on how much Easterly you have to do. With Bimini
about 50 nautical miles off Florida, at 6 knots it should take you about
8 to 9 hours. Your Northerly will be made up by the Gulf Stream current.
Just watch your weather, and don't set out with the wind from any quarter
of the North. Since the winds go around clockwise, wait for a Southerly
wind. Going on a Westerly wind risks the wind swinging to the NorthWest
or North while you are in mid-stream, and then watch out for those nasty
steep waves.
