Otherwise we simply pull out and let the big dog eat. They will find

Ideally we would find a replacement for their oil and let them feed
their camels with it.

The US is actually well on it's way to doing that. It is the rest of
the world that needs middle east oil and we seem to be their cop.

I think there are a lot of people who wish we were out of that
business. If provided at all, it should be charged out at a very
high rate. I'm beginning to think the technology is relatively close
at hand to relegate petroleum back to the roles where it belongs:
lubrication, long haul transportation, and industrial feedstock. One
hundred years from now people will look back in horror at the fact
that oil was once burned to make heat.

It will take a lot of pipe to get gas in all of those oil fired

Might be an LPG or hydrogen tank instead of oil.

LPG ends up being pretty expensive and hydrogen is ungodly expensive.

That's true at the present time but LPG and LNG should both become
cheaper as the oil shale and fracking boom continues.

Hydrogen is just waiting for the right process and catalyst to come
along, most likely solar driven.
