Police: Katherine Harris' husband commits suicide
Sarasota, Florida -- The husband of former Congresswoman and Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris has reportedly killed himself, WTSP.com reports. Sarasota Police say they were called out to the home of Harris and her husband, 68-year-old Anders Ebbeson on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, investigators found Ebbeson dead from an apparent suicide. "On behalf of the family, Katherine's husband took his own life," Sarasota First Baptist Church Pastor William Hild told the Sarasota Herald Tribune. "They are asking for privacy, prayer, thoughts and love from the community." Hild added that Ebbeson, a Swedish businessman, had been suffering from health issues in recent years. Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino said, "We're asking the community respect the family at this difficult time. Mrs. Harris wanted the community, her family and friends to know that her husband is no longer suffering. Harris and Ebbeson were married in 1996. Harris gained national attention over Florida's recount controversy during the 2000 presidential election as the secretary of state. She later served in Congress from 2003 to 2007. -- I'm going to pretend for a moment that I'm one of the right-wing trashmeisters here and that Ms. Harris was a Democrat. So, Ms. Harris, are you going to ask for a recount? |

My father died of bone cancer. If he could have got to a gun, he would have checked out a lot earlier and with a lot less pain from his suffering. |
