They have it bad, that's for sure, basic needs are completely gone, no
food, no potable water, no electricity, no phones, no homes for most.
Then desperate times call for desperate measures, so looting has
started. Disease will come soon, what with the predicted 10,000 bodies
floating around, no sanitization, no sewers. It's only going to get
worse for awhile. The Marines are there but there is only so much that
can be done immediately.

It's horrific. I'm glad to see we've dispatched some military units and
gear to the Philippines to help out. That's the most appreciated
activity in which our military engages...disaster relief provided by
American troops because the people of the United States care.

Do you know how much we spend each year on the military?
Do you know how much other nations spend on their military?

We spend far too much on the military. The military budget can be cut.
Doing so will not prevent us from sending our military in to render
humanitarian aid where it is needed around the world.



Change the name to Salvation Army and turn all weapons to plow shares.

I think it would be cheaper to not have a bloated military. Hell, just
use the National Guard, and the Reservists.

I bet they wish they had not thrown us out.

If nothing else, we would have had planes up in that storm and we
would have expanded our knowledge of what happens in a 200 MPH
cyclone.

We already know what happens in 200 MPH winds, but the Phillipines have
a lot of buildings that aren't built to any code.
