I think you'll like Win 7. For my money it is the best ever - very
fast and stable.

So how did the corn crop turn out this year?

After I got used to Win 8, I really like it. It boots SO much faster
than 7.

Gosh, I haven't even looked at Win 8. Anything really new and exciting
in it? My wife is running 7 on her home machine and so far, it has been
pretty trouble-free for her. I know that because I haven't gotten any
"Can you fix this XYZ problem on my computer?" shout outs.

My buddy at the guitar shop recently purchased a new Dell laptop running
Windows 8. It looks identical to the previous Dell laptop he had
running Win 7.

I was manning the shop for him one morning while he went to a doctor's
appointment and went to use the computer, not knowing it was new. At
first I was stumped, looking for the "Start" button icon. But it only
took a minute or so for me to figure out how it worked and I am not the
brightest person with computers. It seemed to be a decent operating
system and easy to use.

At least three of the programs my wife uses don't play nice with Win 8.
One of them doesn't even have a substitute for the functions she uses.

Boots almost instantaneous, for starters. The constant Windows updates
aren't as intrusive, work in the background. And, for those of us that
have *other people* who run a computer but freeze when a problem occurs,
Win8 actually tells you there is a problem, then if you give it the go
ahead, fixes it.

I like that last tidbit. :)

My brothers in law could use a tough cellphone like that.
They are tough on their phones due to their construction work.

I'm thinking of going to Windows 7. I've got XP, and yesterday went to see what changes I'd have to
make for Windows 8. Way too many. I've been pleased with XP, but I do hear good things about Win 7.

John H. -- Hope you're having a great day!

What changes would you have to make? I made none.
