So you're with Al on this one too? |

Child prostitution is OK but OMG a cartoon selling doughnuts is an outrage. Only to the race hustlers... |

Sharpton just sets the stage for lots of other people to be offended at things they would think were funny if they were left to their own thoughts. It is similar to people who go out of their way to find "accessibility" issues in places where it was never an issue ... like the requirement for a wheelchair accessible stripper pole. Some of us always thought white actors prancing around in blackface was offensive. |

Some of us always thought white actors prancing around in blackface was offensive. Because someone told you it was. Do you think mimes are making fun of white people too? Most of the famous mimes were just doing non-offensive funny stuff, and the white face *some* of them used was not there to depict white people. Many circus clowns use whiteface. Do you think they are depicting white people? The blackfacers were making fun of what they thought was the stereotypical behavior of black people. |

Do you think Al Jolsen was doing a stereotype? Did Gene Wilder offend you in Stir Crazy? Was Laurence Olivier offensive when he played Othello? 1. Absolutely. 2. The concept of wearing blackface offends me. 3. Olivier was a great actor, but there were first rate black actors who could have played and in fact did play the role, Paul Robeson, for one. In 1965, to have Olivier as Othello was more than a bit condescending to black actors. |

It's really surprising that you don't find yourself offensive. |
