People have been making better zip guns than that for decades and they don't need anything you can't find at a decent hardware store. A single shot, smoothbore like that gun is trivial to make, particularly if you only plan on shooting it once or twice. You go first ;-) Now you've done it. I was hoping Herring would give it a try. I made a very serviceable 12ga shotgun when I was about 13. We found a box of shells in the woods and wanted to find a way to shoot them. All 25 went down range without a hitch or a blown off finger. When my dad found it he made me take it apart because it was clearly a NFA34 violation. (the barrel was too short and overall length was too) The strange thing is, I could have registered it as an OAW for $5 if I was old enough. We made lots of very fine cannons when I was 10 years old or so. My dad owned a large commercial machine shop, and I could run a lathe early on, and we make them out of 1.5" hot rolled round stock, and would use fire crackers, gun powder, jetex fuses, etc. mostly 30 caliber. |
