Firestone tires.

Exploding vehicle gas tanks.

The Edsel.

Shining. Right!

Is it Ford or private industry, you don't like?

Poor assumption. Point was the tarnish on your "shining" example.
Surely, you can find a better example.

Almost anything will tarnish if you throw enough acid on it.
Why should I look for a better example. Ford is a pretty good example of
what private industry is capable of even with government meddling and
interference. Building a plane an hour is a pretty amazing feat, dontcha
think?

You make an interesting point, though not the one you intend. If you
order enough units and throw enough money at a project, you can get

Only if you throw the money in the direction of an entity capable and
willing to fill the order; the elites of private industry.

Who was ordering large quantities of these units and throwing mass
quantities of cash at Ford so that they could buy one an hour?

You don't know?
