How stupid do you...

....have to be to believe that the rape kits hospitals use to determine
if a woman has been sexually attacked end a pregnancy?

About as stupid as this Texas female legislator...

Jodie Laubenberg says Texas rape kit is like dilation and curettage
procedure

The lead House sponsor of legislation pitched by advocates as improving
the safety of abortion clinics and restricting certain late-term
abortions described kits used after sexual assaults as akin to a
procedure that scrapes out tissue lining the uterus.

In floor debate that would extend hours past midnight June 23, 2013,
Rep. Jodie Laubenberg, R-Parker, mentioned "rape kits" after Rep.
Senfronia Thompson, D-Houston, presented an amendment to Senate Bill 5
to exempt victims of rape and incest from limits on abortions after the
20th week of pregnancy. A day later, the GOP-majority House advanced the
measure to the Senate for possible action before a 30-day special
session was to end June 25.

Laubenberg, responding to questions from Democratic Reps. Joseph Moody
of El Paso and Dawnna Dukes of Austin, framed her refusal to accept
Thompson’s amendment by implying that rape kits used in hospitals can
prevent unwanted pregnancy. Laubenberg said that currently, in "the
emergency rooms they have what’s called rape kits, that the woman can
get cleaned out, basically like a D and C" -- dilation and curettage
surgery, often performed after miscarriages.

The reality is a sexual assault evidence collection kit includes legal
and medical forms, oral swabs, hair combs and containers for clothes,
hair, fingernails, blood and saliva.

Welcome to ayatollahville.

How stupid do you have to be to not realize your pregnancy is due to rape or incest before 20 weeks
have expired?

The morning after pill should have solved that problem 19 6/7ths weeks earlier.

I don't know what possible connection there is between an ignorant
Republican state legislator in Texas who thinks a "rape kit" terminates
possible pregnancies, and an abortion at whatever date. Do you?

Rape or incest, which is what John specifically referenced. If after those specific scenarios the victim is thinking about keeping it, it would almost certainly be because she is against abortion to begin with.

As we have seen recently, most doctrinaire righties don't give a damn
about women, womens' rights, or even children, and the only reason they
give a damn about fetuses is because pregnancy and and full term births
are ways to try to control women.

How stupid do you have to be to not realize your pregnancy is
due to rape or incest before 20 weeks
have expired?

The morning after pill should have solved that problem 19
6/7ths weeks earlier.

Blowing smoke? You fool!!! What would make you think that a woman
should
make and would make an instant decision like that?

Rape or incest, which is what John specifically referenced. If
after those specific scenarios the victim is thinking about keeping
it, it would almost certainly be because she is against abortion to
begin with.

And, I wouldn't consider 20 weeks an 'instant decision'.

John (Gun Nut) H.

So you don't think a woman should take time to think about her decision
whether or not to abort a fetus?

As we have seen recently, most doctrinaire righties don't give a damn
about women, womens' rights, or even children, and the only reason they
give a damn about fetuses is because pregnancy and and full term births
are ways to try to control women.

You are delusional...

Sorry, but I've been watching the GOP federal legislators, governors,
and state legislators for years on this issue, and what they are doing
is what their extremist base is telling them to do. The extremist base,
the doctrinaire righties, controls the Republican party. There's
certainly no morality behind these beliefs, because if there were,
they'd be acting differently towards women and children.

I don't buy that argument for a minute. Anyone who consumes oxygen
on this planet in this day and age knows there's no such thing as
"controlling women".

I think is more related to traditional values and faith beliefs,
right or wrong. I've cashed out on this issue. I remain pro-life
but pro-choice.
I know what I would do. What others do is their business.

Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. That is the
problem with the left, so intolerant and dismissive across the board...

The right-wing religious bozos talk all the time about the need to
control women and keep women subservient. It does work, not in your
household or mine, but it does work. Women are very much controlled in
many of these conservative superreligious families.

Love the GOP state lawmaker in Texas who recently said use of a rape kit
would prevent pregnancy.

D'oh.

Just think of all the women and children who could have benefited if
only you had paid your taxes.
