A good show on tonight.
I know that many right wingers won't watch an educational channel like
PBS, but to those here that don't mind learning, there's going to be a very good show on called The Constitution U.S.A. I watched an extended preview of it and it's going to be eye opening. |

I wouldn't trust PBS doing a rerun of Gunsmoke. ==== That's a little harsh in my opinion. Some of the PBS programming is really quite good and it fills a much needed culture void that the commercial networks can't afford. Not everyone has the same tastes in music, theatre (or politics) and PBS does a god job covering most of the bases. Are they totally unbiased? Heck no, but you can say the same thing about the New York Times and the Washington Post - both great newspapers but you have to appreciate which filter you're looking through. |

Rightie extremists tend not to like news and current events programming on PBS because the shows go into great detail into subjects they do not like or like to ignore. Great detail usually means the problems and possible solutions are not presented in a black or white format, and require thinking and analysis. |

I should have it on my DVR if the timer gods were kind and I could burn you a copy. BTW it looks like you may have missed spring here.. Jim Rief says this may be the last cool front.. What exactly in the show was biased in your opinion? Are you responding to something three replies deep in this thread? It is certainly not responsive to what Wayne or I said Yes, I am. And yes, it is responsive to what YOU said. This was my first response in this thread and I never mentioned any bias. In fact I still have not even seen the show. It is still in the DVR You just swing blindly without even knowing who you are swinging at. Oh, good lord...... WOOOOOOOOOOOSH........ Heh, heh, heh... You do seem to hear that sound often, passing right over you. Your mind is a flickering, nearly burned out CFL. There was absolutely nothing judgmental regarding the show in Greg's post. |

What facts did the show provide that we don't already know? None that you would get or understand, apparently. But for starters, the Constitution that the right wing holds dearly, was founded in part because the federal government wanted more control and taxation from the states, something the right acts like they don't want. |

It is the best considered compromise from a group of really smart guys, hammered out in an attempt to strike the right balance between federal control and state control, and individual liberties vs law and order. The fact that it still survives more or less intact today is a testament to the wisdom and thought that went into the original effort. Attempts to put a modern day political spin on the constitution are a corruption of the ideals that it is based on. |
