It didn't make any difference to me when I read that Leonardo da Vinci
might have been gay, and he was a guy who really mattered.

I do understand why announcing his preference might matter to Collins,
but really, why does anyone else care? Yet, it seems that many people do.

D'oh.

Harry, concerning world events involving a trigger happy nutcase in
North Korea, and the possibility of a threat of *war with Syria being
proprietary *issues, why would you think that some ball players sexual
orientation would be worthy mention?

That was my point, indirectly, tim. Collins is all over the news and
many "prominent" individuals are commenting on his "coming out," and,
not being much of a sports fan, I don't know why. The question remains,
why does anyone care?

Ok. *harry*

If it's all over the news then why did you feel the article would be
of interest here?

I agree with Greg and Rich...

Perfect answer, because it really isn't anyone's business except Jason
Collins. I'm astonished at how much "play" it is getting in what passes
for news reports these days.

---------------------------------------

Ummmm..... to the best of my knowledge you are the only one who has
even brought it up here in rec.boats.

It was just "announced" today. I'm just wondering if a pro athlete
"coming out" is really something sports fans care about.

I can tell you unequivocally that I don't give a ****. ;-)

Harry was interested for reasons known only to himself. Perhaps he
feels some sort of kinship in a, uhhh, backward sort of way.

I find it more interesting that Harry's beloved federal administration
is running a leaky sewage plant on the Potomoc River. Don't they
know that's not only illegal but a disgusting source of pollution?
Does Harry's president know about this? Why aren't the (probably)
unionized workers at the plant blowing the whistle? Are they culpable
also?

There are lots of posts here that are off-topic and to some of us, no
interest whatsoever.

I find it interesting that you are clueless about who runs the sewage
plant.

Deadbeats who file multiple bankruptcies might be a more interesting topic. Especially when the deadbeat is lying, neurotic braggadocio.
