The Associated Press reported that the Tarrant County medical
examiner’s office ruled Kirk Franklin’s death a suicide. Franklin
allegedly shot himself after getting in an argument with other campers
in the infield of the Texas Motor Speedway during the Sprint Cup
Series NRA 500.

CNN reported on Monday that, according to police in Fort Worth,
Franklin’s body was found in the back seat of a truck.

The Yahoo Sports blog From The Marbles reported on Sunday that state
law prohibited patrons from bringing firearms into the venue.

Before the race, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) wrote Fox network chief
Rupert Murdoch asking him not to televise the event, saying it would
“give credence to an extreme organization that is opposed to
reasonable policies to stem gun violence.”

The race was still televised on Fox Sports, but the NRA was only
mentioned once an hour as the title sponsor, and its logo was not part
of any in-race graphics.

I wonder why you can't carry into the NASCAR races in Texas. Seems to me
it would be a great idea, what with the heat, short tempers, booze,
drugs, women in halter tops, and who knows what else.

Especially if it's an NRA event!

I guess they just needed more laws huh?

How about a waiting period? That usually helps when someone doesn't
have a gun and wants to off himself on the spur of the moment.

The guy who offed himself already had the firearm.

So, you don't think a waiting period would help reduce some of the
other suicides? Yeah, you're an idiot.

Yup I doubt he bought it from the gun concessionaire at the race.

Maybe you think that should be legal?

Find me a statistic that says any significant number of people shoot
themselves the day they buy their first gun and I might agree.

Until then, you are the idiot.

I guess the US military are idiots.

People buy deadly weapons each and every day. They go into the store purshcase their deadly
weapon and walk out with it. No background check, no ID needed, just pick out which one you
want, take it to the counter, pay for it and leave the store.

Why do you want to prevent people from taking control of their own lives and doing whatever
they want to with their own lives? It is a choice!
