Bayfield - Gozzard

I'm looking at a Bayfield 36, which is designed by the same person the
makes the Gozzard 36.

Why do the Bayfields cost so much less on the used market?

Thanks,

Jim

Do you mean why does a used (more than 10 years old, since none were built since
the late 80's) Bayfield 36 cost less than a newer Gozzard 36? Maybe because it's
newer!
I realize that boats in general and sailboats in particular don't depreciate as
quickly as cars, but the do depreciate. Also buying a Gozzard means there's
support and parts from a company that's still in business. If Bayfield Yachts
hadn't forced Ted Gozzard out of the company, they might still be in business,
although their demise was directly the result of a nervous bank, not any
business losses or lack of sales, much the same as Tanzer.
