San Juan 21 Cabin mod.
Any SJ21 owners out there that are familiar with the "box like" structures
inside the cabin that are moulded into the hull? There is a box on the starboard side next to the keel winch that is about 18" cube and would make a great place to install a small sink, but I not quite sure what I might find if I cut into it. I tried to post this on the SJ21 club site but it didn't seem to post. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Bruce |

Mine had a teak cover on the top, and I used the space to store things like the vang and flares and whatnot. Putting a sink in there should be no problem, but to where are you going to drain it? |

Steve, Sounds like you yours was a Mk2 which I would prefer if I had another
choice. I was thinking of just using a small thru hull fitting a couple of inches above the water line with some type of check valve. Thanks for the reply. Bruce I guess that would work, although for the thru hull I'd recommend a valve that you can shut. Faced with the unknown such as you are, you might just drill a small hole into the space and see what's in there. Solder a couple of wires to a flashlight bulb, put it into the hole you've made, and look around. |
