You were right..."Threat Vector" was a fun read.

But I wish we'd whomped up on China a little more. That Dong Feng 21 missile is a scary creature.
The Chinese seem to think so also:

Scary stuff. Clancy should have destroyed all those buggers!

Ya, not a heavy "thinker" .... just good adventure entertainment type
reading. But, like other novels by Clancy, not too far from the
real world.

In terms of quality of writing, it's been downhill for Clancy since "The
Hunt for Red October," despite his great financial success. He has a
nice tugboat up at Annapolis.

He's definitely not your caliber.

I am sure it's because he has them written by others and just does the
concept and editing stuff. But, it's still a fun read for those
looking for a good yarn and not a literary masterpiece.

He got himself in some hot water with "The Hunt for Red October" for a
while. Some of the data he wrote about was still classified. Not
known for sure if he knew that or his imagination just happened to hit
upon some "real" capabilities we had at the time.
