Maryland has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. They must
not really be that effective I guess.

The facts are a bit more nuance that making the case either way on
strict gun laws, except it seems with regard to carry permits. Those
cause more problems.

Because they have a political agenda... There should be a site out there
dedicated to getting the facts out, but it's not this one

Come on. There's absolutely no evidence or even a hint of evidence
that anything even close to this is in our future. This is a paranoid,
hide under the mattress with some guns and 20,000 rounds of ammo
diatribe that the right wingers dredge up when they have nothing of
substance to say.
