All contributions gratefully received. :-) My choice would be one
of those gigundo gyro stabilized models.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, I have
to "detune" the megapixel count quite a bit before tinypic.com will
accept them. The originals are almost 5 megabytes each and can be
blown up a great deal. That would make them NSFW in some cases and
probably violate the tinypix Terms of Service.

That said, imagination can be a powerful thing, and private viewing of
original hi pixel images can be organized for friends!

Try cropping instead of detuning. My tired old eyes can't make out the

That's a big'un all right. Image stabilization has come a long way
since the Korean war however. You can now buy binoculars with
minature elecronic gyros that are almost unbelievably good.
Unfortunately I haven't seen anything comparable in camera technology
other than the really high end professional gear. Hand holding a
long telephoto lens on a moving boat is very difficult but if you push
up the ASA number to 400 or so you can use very fast shutter speeds.

It's only a few miles way but you have to wait for a break in the

What's the law on guns there?

Not sure, we don't carry any except for a few 25mm "signaling

Yes, but you suffer with "noise" the higher the ASA.

ASA 400 ain't that high nowadays. Digital imaging has come a long ways
since the days of Tri-X film.

Didn't say is was that high these days. Still a fact, the higher the ASA
the more noise.
