![]() An Alabama man was in surgery on Sunday after police said he shot himself and his 6-year-old daughter while cleaning his gun. Homicide Unit commander Capt. Loyd Baker said Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit had been called to the scene by Northport police to investigate a 45-year-old man who reportedly fired a round into his own leg as he was cleaning a 9 mm pistol, according to Al.com. The daughter was also grazed by the bullet after it exited the man’s leg. Both the man and the girl were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where the man was expected to undergo surgery. The girl was treated for minor injuries. Baker said that investigators had not decided if charges would be filed. Reader response: The NRA has responded to the incident, suggesting that he go out and buy another gun to protect himself from himself. |
