More revisionist history? During the War of Independence, the
Continental Navy sent more than 50 ships to sea. They also captured
more than 200 British vessels. So, long before the Senate declared
that, "...the Government of the United States of America is not, in
any sense, founded on the Christian religion..." we had built a navy.



The U.S was engaged in building six frigates in the mid to late 1790's.
The Constitution was launched in 1797.
