Unspeakable tragedy? Tragic to be sure, but unspeakable? Four Americans
were killed, Americans who were working a risky job in a risky place and
who knew about the risks. We've had really unspeakable tragedies before
that attack and unspeakable tragedies since. In 1983, the U.S. Marine
barracks in Lebanon were bombed, resulting in nearly 300 deaths, most of
them U.S. uniformed service personnel, the deadliest day for U.S.
Marines since the battle for Iwo Jima.
