I've seen moose, out in the wild.

Oh brother... really? Right...

Unlike you, I don't have to wear an ankle bracelet and stay within the

boundaries of my home state.

I saw my first moose in 1970 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, outside

of Escanaba.

Was that the time you had the sit down with Tricky Dick Nixon.

Good Lord, you're farting up a storm here, FlatulentJim.

Maryland is really more like 4 states. If you are North and West of
DC, you live in Pennsylvania. South and East is more like the Southern
US and if you live in Baltimore or the close in DC suburbs it is just
the city.
The Eastern Shore is a unique experience, not like anywhere else
except the Delmarva Eastern Shore (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia)

Harry is on the cusp of Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore,
heavily influenced by DC refugees

13 or 14 commuter buses a day into the district...

Yup. I remember when they thought Clinton and Rockville were long
commutes. My house in Clinton was behind a big tobacco field and there
was almost a mile of woods behind the house.
Out there in Cawl'vert county you only had fishermen, farmers and a
few "horsey" people.

I am always amazed when I drive through Maryland now. I still remember
Oxon Hill being out in the country.

Harry has a Maryland red barn, don't you know?!!

Marylanders don't have to go to PA to see the Amish. They Amish are in
Maryland.

http://amishamerica.com/maryland-amish/

Yup, the Amish built my brother in law's house in Ridge, near Point
Lookout.

I never really heard of them up where Harry is or in Anne Arundle, PG
or Chuck County.
I doubt they can afford Montgomery or Frederick

Many, many of the old order Amish have fled the PA MD areas because of
the commercialization of them. Many have went to western NY which is
still rural enough where a lot of areas in the hills don't have
electricity going that far. Lancaster, PA is nothing but a tourist trap
anymore, and a lot of so-called Amish built goods are anything but.

No, CrazyCanuck, I wasn't scared. In fact, I was really pleased because
I had never seen moose in the wild. There were two of them and they
weren't what you might call together. A cow moose and a bull moose. We
weren't close enough to startle them.

I don't find most animals in the wild scary.

It's not as if we were "on top" of the moose or in the way. We weren't,
and there was no reason to run. We weren't out hunting or trapping, we

A pack of feral dogs *can be* a lot scarier and more deadly than the
usual singular animals one encounters in the woods. The dogs have one
thing on their minds...dinner. Even though you read about the occasional
bear, mountain lion or even wolf attacks, most of the time these animals
do not want a human encounter, and they will stay hidden or move on out
to another location.

I've encountered all sorts of small mammals in our little part of rural
Maryland, including deer, raccoons, foxes, neighborhood dogs and cats,
ground hogs, possums, et cetera. We mostly eyeball each other and move
on. That would not be the case with a pack of feral dogs.

But, hey, it wouldn't bother me at all to read of your demise at the
jaws of a pack of such dogs. Bon appetit, doggies.

I was discussing "encountering" critters in the woods, which implies
hiking, walking, exploring. Camping implies sleeping around a fire or in
a tent, and having attractive nuisances such as food available that the
bears find interesting or found interesting at the campsites of others.

We don't camp. We go where we want to go and stay in nice hotels. There
are plenty of really beautiful venues available to those who enjoy the
outdoors but like to stay in a nice room with the conveniences of home.

No, CrazyCanuck, I wasn't scared. In fact, I was really pleased because
I had never seen moose in the wild. There were two of them and they
weren't what you might call together. A cow moose and a bull moose. We
weren't close enough to startle them.

Obviously, neither of you assholes (and that is the correct descriptor
for both of you) have ever encountered packs of feral dogs out in the
woods. My hope is that you do, and that the dogs bring condiments.

But you just said you're not afraid of animals in the wild because they
know you are hiking and not hunting.

I guess you've never camped where there are bears and wolves then.

You can't "encounter" a bear while camping?? Really? Yeah, you must see
a lot of wild, wild creatures in those hotels. And actually there are
not real encounters with truly wild animals at hotels and resorts. They
are tame to semi-tame, like going to a zoo. But then again, when I camp
I have to cook biscuits and eggs and ham, I don't have the breakfast
buffet to go to. Then again, I can come and go as I please, don't have
hundreds of people crammed on tourist busses to go out in the "wild" to
see the wild moose (the ones that are fed grain three times a day to
keep them around). Reminds me of the time I went to Cherokee, NC and
there were "Indian Chief" with headdresses on, etc. You an have your
cheesy tourist traps.

D'uh. You really truly have problems with abstract thinking. Did I say

would encounter a bear in the hotel lobby? No.

Learn how to read for comprehension.
