President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the violence aimed at black Americans
in September 1957 at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Eisenhower sent in the troops to protect children from the terrorists
who were keeping them from attending school.

There have been cops in middle and high schools here for decades but
they are only there to catch a kid smoking a joint in the bathroom.

The cop at Columbine was under specific orders not to engage an active
shooter. I agree that to actually be effective a "guard" should get
extensive training and that should be in conjunction with a planned
procedure about what everyone else will be doing.

We had two Fairfax County Police at Lake Braddock High School when I was there. That was more than
ten years ago. They were in uniform, with weapons, handcuffs, and the whole bit. They had an office,
small, but spent most of their time walking the halls.

My school had a cop that dealt with school problems. Moose Morris was
huge, but a nice guy. And he did not spend much time at the school. We
did not have need for armed guards, but kids would settle arguments via
fisticuffs, not shooting or knifing each other. And violent games and
movies can not be helping the situation.

Bull****, you said your mother made you stay in your room and take

Yet another fantasy from Loogy iBoaterererer, one of the several
rec.boats dead brains.

Are you denying that you said your mother made you take practice tests?
Are you denying that you said that your mother didn't allow you to
participate in dangerouse recreational activities?

He will ignore that like the posts about his unpaid taxes.

I think we are just a more violent culture although the rest of the
democracies are catching up. Maybe those games and movies are
affecting them too.

Nope, no evidence of such.

Any review of history will show a close correlation between religion,
religious tracts, and aggression and violence.

And maybe the games and movies have little or nothing to do with it.

At that point you have to start questioning the value of "educational
TV" too. Maybe Big Bird is a waste of money.

"Educational TV" is nothing more that a cheap baby-sitter.

You folks do like having things both ways.

Your kids only learn good things from watching TV, never anything bad.

I'm sorry, just where did I say that?

So you are saying violent TV and movies may promote violent activity.
Welcome aboard.

No, I'm not. You are getting like Harry now, telling people what they
think, feel and know. But if a child can learn something, I think they
should learn it. Because a certain program is formatted FOR that child
learning, that doesn't mean that every violent program is formatted for
that child to learn violence. That would be akin to let's say, a math
teacher teaching math. What if that teacher is also a martial artist.
Does that necessarily mean that the math teacher is teaching his
students martial arts? Of course not, but that' how silly you are
sounding.

Naw. I don't think you are capable of thinking, feeling, or knowing.
You're just another chapter in the book of Snotty Scotty.
