It's actually more of a tax at this point since the money is not set
aside like it would be in an actual retirement plan.

But it's backed by the full faith and credit of the United States
Government which should be better than any insurance company or
financial institution. Do you have doubts?

Rockerfeller's "Standard Oil" only to spawn several new monster
companies that included Exon and Mobile that combined to become even
greater.

These men created America's "Industrial Revolution" and generated
millions upon millions of new jobs that established America's strong
and healthy middle class and the United States became the world's
leading manufacturing country with a standard of living for everyone
that was the envy of the world. The government did not create these
jobs. The entrepreneurial ideas and money of these then hated
people did.

Ironically, they also became the world's greatest philanthropists in
their later years as well.

Interesting stories, especially for those who think big business is
all bad and the government should be in charge of creating jobs and/or
being the great provider.

Yes, and that series was very interesting! THEY, not the government ran
the country. They told the government what to do.

I wasn't clear. I didn't mean the stories were exaggerated but the
implication that there are (significant numbers of) people "who think
business is all bad..." I'm quite liberal yet think nothing of the sort
and don't know anyone who does. It's a straw-man.
