RUST STAINS

In refinishing my exterior teak, I started the sanding process with
steel wool. As luck would have it, it rained the night after I did it.
All of the steel wool fibers gathered at the various points where the
water is channelled on deck and rusted, leaving rust stains all over the
place. Anyone have any luck with any product that removes rust stains?

I had rust stains on my topsides which I successfully removed using a
product from Home Depot called Rustaid, or something to that effect. It's a
diluted form of muriatic acid and it worked great and didn't harm my
gelcoat. I simply brushed it on with a disposable paint brush, waited
thirty seconds or so and washed it off.

Oxalic Acid, also known as wood bleach works great. A one pound box
costs about 5 bucks. Available at a lot of lumber yards. Also good on
the bow beards from coastal waters. It's the same ingredient used in
all the fiberglass cleaners.
