Two law enforcement officials in New York City say a recently fired
store worker shot a former colleague to death and then randomly opened
fire on others near the Empire State Building.

The officials say eight other people were struck by bullets but those
injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Almost a certainty, it was an illegal possession. NYC is "may issue",
and it is very rare to get a permit. Besides, they have a "stop and
frisk" program ongoing. I haven't checked the stats, but the Mayor
swears the city is the safest big city in the country.

people with a knife.

It's too bad no cops were around when a guy in China killed 5 or 6
people with a knife.

CNN is calling this a mass shooting but it wasn't a mass shooting
until the police showed up. Bloomberg has already warned us that it is
likely that the only shot Johnson fired was at his old boss. All of
the bystanders may have been hit by "friendly fire" in the police
crossfire.
Maybe they are the ones who should not have large magazines. I also
point to the other police shooting this week where they fired 30-40
rounds at one guy in a few seconds.

Cross-fire? You mean when the aimed their guns, closed their eyes and
pulled the trigger.
