I'm registered under Republican but I've never vote a straight ticket and probably never will. If i was registered as a Democrat, I'd still never vote a straight ticket.... probably I vote for the Republican who is the sheriff here. He's a good, honest, law enforcement official. The local county government types of either party make no effort to reach out to voters during the election season, so I simply don't vote for any of them. In our congressional district, the Republicans run either bat**** crazy tea party types or people with absolutely no political experience. I'm certainly not going to vote for a Republican candidate for U.S. Senator or Governor. The third-party candidates who run in our district for federal office tend to be beyond bizarre. My mother was a minor political functionary in the GOP in my hometown, and got me involved in politics when I was 16. I called voters and arranged rides to the polls. But in those days, the GOP was a progressive party, not the collection of crazies that began taking it over for real in the 1980's. |
