Just finished a trip up the icw, key largo to and into the St. Johns River.
Here are some thoughts.

1. St. Johns has LOTS of neat smaller creeks and rivers, the Wakiva, the
Ortega.

2. The Landings at Jacksonville is worth a stop.

3. Dockage at Palatka is CHEAP!

4. Vero is a great place to spend a day or two. Great marina, internet access,
nice lounge for boaters, free bus shuttle to town and beach, great access to
food and supplies. Even a new small West Marine on the Bus route.

5. Lantana is an exposed anchorage southwest of the Lantana Bridge, but
walkable to ekards, some food and supplies , auto parts, liquor store, and the
"house" bar/restruant. Bridge tender on duty friday at noon was a jerk.

6. Marine land is rebuilding the marina.

7. Matanzas pass is passable!

8. Traveling thru ft. lauderdale on weekends, the minimun wake areas are Idle
only. Slow going and bridges are still on scedules.

9. Miami still sucks! Its pretty , however, I would NEVER stop there. and the
local boaters have no idea what all those square signs with orange cirlcles on
the ICW are for.

10. Cheap fuel was at Ft. Pierce commercial docks, If you can take the dirt,
and belive it or not, Palm Coast Marina.

Alligator River Marina in NC sells diesel for $0.97/gal

I can't say how much of it they have available or it's vintage. We had more than
enough fuel already when we stopped by there. They have ice cream too.
