SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah bird hunter was shot in the buttocks
after his dog stepped on a shotgun laid across the bow of a boat.

Box Elder County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Potter says the 46-year-old
Brigham City man was duck hunting with a friend when he climbed out of
the boat to move decoys.

Potter says the man left his 12-gauge shotgun in the boat and the dog
stepped on it, causing it to fire. It wasn't clear whether the safety
on the gun was on at the time.

Potter says the man was hit from about 10 feet away with 27 pellets of
birdshot. He says the man wasn't seriously injured, in part because he
was wearing waders. The man was treated at a nearby hospital.

It takes a real man to hunt down and shoot a dangerous duck, but it just
takes a dumb dog to shoot its master.

Tell it to Harry, he's a gun lover!

Do you eat duck? And you have a passion for guns, don't you?

Gosh. First it was a case of racism in a Baptist Church. I suppose that means all Baptist (or even
Christian?) churches are bad.

Now we've got a case of a hunter getting shot by his dog. I suppose that means all dog owners are
bad.

Here in DC, there are ethics problems with two black council members and the black mayor under
federal investigation. http://tinyurl.com/br9p2br I suppose that means all black politicians are
bad.

Maybe your head is in a dark place.

Seems clear to me.

There are shotgun around without safeties. I don't hunt, but I do
sometimes accompany buddies who do, because we walk in interesting
places. I doubt any of them would hunt with a long gun or shotgun
without a working safety, or without the shotgun open.

A well-trained hunting dog would know to click off the safety before shooting its master.

Yeah, he probably makes the dog jump in the water to "retrieve" the dead
ducks.
