Advice please: Loon 138 vs. Pamlico 120?
Hello,
I am purchasing my first kayak -- it will be mainly for short trips on flat water lakes, the ICW, and slow-moving rivers. I want a stable and good- value boat. I've narrowed down my choices to a used Old Town Loon 138 and a new Wilderness Systems Pamlico 120, both about the same price. Which would you pick and why? Thanks very much for you help! Brian |

I would pick the Pamlico because I like the hull design better for tracking
and maneuverability and I like the durability of the material over the Loon's. Courtney "Brian Minsk" wrote in message .4... Brian Brian; FWIW - I've been using a old loon and have been quite satisfied. However I've longed for a new winderness pamlico. A few weeks ago I rented a Pamlico for the weekend and it looked really sharp!!! However, it took only about 1/2 hour on the water to begin to feel the differences. Although the Pamlico looked nice it was more flexible, less stable, didn't track very well, and a few others. I didn't even keep it the week end. Brought it back. Point of this... recommend you find a location where you can try BOTH of them because using is believing and if you want to ENJOY kayaking, try it before you buy it! Good luck. B |
