Acorn slippers.. Made in China
Bought a pair of Acorn slippers for my mother a few years ago when
they were still made in Maine.... They show almost no wear but one went missing recently. I figured this was a chance to get something practical for her 97th birthday next month, so I went into the same outdoor gear shop to buy a new pair. Imagine my surprise to find out they are now Made in China and still cost more than I spent last time. Someone is making lots of money on the 'global economy'. Sure... I could have ordered a pair online from the US cheaper but she needed then ASAP. |

If they are made in China, give it some buyers resistance. In a few months it will show up elsewhere under a different name for 1/3rd the price. -- Eat the rich, screw the companies and wonder why there are no jobs. I'd bought her a pair years ago that she'd worn out and I was eager to replace them. Went to REI where I bought the first pair and found they were made in China. I'm still looking. |

When someone is 97 and in a nursing home, you are thankful that you can get them something they need and will use every day... rather than something that will have to be stored due to minimal room in their clothes closet. Besides almost $60.00 (inc tax) for a pair of Made in China slippers isn't cheap in my world. If she didn't need them right away ( due to one disappearing at the nursing home) I would have checked out LL Bean. |
