Perry was the only one who signed on to a report from CSIS about infrastructure improvements, including Obama. Of course Perry is also not shy about spending government money to create jobs The problem with the democrats on this plan is they want concessions from unions and streamlined permitting processes. Zakaria points out that 64% of the projects that wound otherwise be shovel ready, are hung up in environmental permit troubles. The unions are blocking anyone who has not done time in grade in the particular union that runs a job (Read ![]() required number of years.) from working and that is about 90% of the unemployed. Unions don't run construction jobs. General contractors do. The general selects the subs. That depends on where you are. It is true in Florida or any other right to work state but if you are in one of those mobbed up union states up north, trying to hire someone who is not blessed by the union will get the job shut down, legally or illegally. Davis Bacon will be a problem too because the "prevailing wage" will be pegged at whatever the union says it is. Prevailing wages are published and known. -- I'll believe corporations are people when Texas executes one. |
