tie down tails
a different solution to tie dows flying off the roof of the car ...
I sewed short lengths of nylon webbing (strapping) to the ends of the tie downs. These tails hang down and get caught in the top of the door when it closes so if the tie down comes loose it will stay put, more or less. I had to sew a button on each of the tails so they would not slip back out of the door jamb. It would have been simpler to tie short lengths of string to the tie downs with big knots in the ends of the string but I had some scraps of nylon webbing and it looks better. You can buy nylon webbing in fabric stores. Mine came off discarded backpacks or shoulder bags, I can't remember which. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ William R Watt National Capital FreeNet Ottawa's free community network homepage: www.ncf.ca/~ag384/top.htm warning: non-freenet email must have "notspam" in subject or it's returned |
