quiet night

was a quiet night at the ambulance station here....people stayed home.
the marina cameras are not working so dont know what's happening with
boat....windspeeds ran about 35-45 at atlantic city overnight and were
gusting to about 50 at the mouth of NY harbor. the last picture i got
at the marina last night, about 2 AM, showed water over the bulkhead
at the marina....so now it's just wait and see.

hope everyone did well. storm is now over NYC

You all got lucky because shear whacked the storm before it got out of
the Carolinas and it did not come in as a 2. New York only saw a
Tropical Storm.
My biggest fear is the next time people will ignore the warnings
because this one did not tear the place up. That was a big part of the
Katrina problem. They had been warned for years and nothing ever
happened so nobody prepared or evacuated.

My son's yacht club in Westchester County, Western Long Island Sound,
had waves breaking on the front lawn at 11:00AM this morning just
before their web cam stopped working. That implies a storm surge in
the 6 to 8 foot range. Winds here have gone around to the south and
are beginning to moderate. Looks like the eye passed mid way between
NYC and Connecticut.

That's what happens when commercial advertisers pay for the weather
reports through commercials.
