Scott, Blakely, John, Brad, riverman, Hey, if all of you are still hangin' out, how 'bout POSTING ONCE IN A WHILE! I agree there's not been that much interesting going on, but we could START something. [chop] My posting style never was to begin a discussion, just to jump into a discussion already ensuing and add my meretricious piffle into it! ;-) I did post here once looking for a used drysuit though. Got one too! I stil wear it, a large Kokatat GoreTEX /w/ built-in neo booties. I had the latex neck and wrist gaskets replaced this year, and added a pee zipper too! (Never realized how many rapids I had boated with a full bladder until I got that pee zipper installed. Yay!) -- John Kuthe, 1st rule of Govt: protect people from Govt 2nd rule of Govt: protect people from each other BUT: It must *never* become the job of Govt to protect people from themselves! |

Damn, Fred. Had I known....
I've been guiding in the Brooks for the past five years, mostly June & early July, and am not always in town, but if anyone does make it this far afield, do call me, 907-388-0650. I'm leaving next Saturday for a drive to Miami, a month in S Africa, another in the Caribbean, then a month paddling around SE America. Maybe we'll connect somewhere. My quest this summer was Canada, but I spent September in AK. I'd had ambitions to do a trip in the Koyukuk, but I was just too much of a sissy to start off into a howling horizontal whiteout. Brad:
Driving from Fairbanks to Miami? Why not head up to the North Slope to start and continue down the Key West and set yourself up in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest drive in the US? Not entirely dead, Blakely. I still check in regularly. And, albeit more irregularly nowadays (just had three weeks of holidays) I also peek at RBP every once in a while. It just seems that there isn't much going on here any more, despite some efforts by some of the regulars. Oh well, the clouds are bursting here, and everything has water, so this coming weekend I'll be back in my kayak again for the second time this year! :-) -- Wilko van den Bergh wilko(a@t dse d.o.t)nl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations. http://wilko.webzone.ru/ |
