HI Folks, There's an article in the newest issue of Science, perhaps the pre-eminent scientific journal in the world, about global warming, that talks about its effects and establishes further evidence of human-caused climate change. My understanding of current literature is that folks dependent on glacial melt for their water supplies will be some of the hardest hit-- because there aren't gonna be any glaciers. Chuck Mary Malmros wrote: If you call it "global warming" whenever something melts, then I suppose that would have to be true. Hi Mary, I can't base my own comments on any personal scientific knowledge, but I do have to at least consider the findings of people who really do study these things, and perhaps have a better scientific understanding than I do. The unusually large chunks of ice breaking off of Antarctica are interesting to ponder. By the way...I was able to reliably rule out global warming when my beloved Godiva Belgian Dark Chocolate ice cream began to melt at an alarming rate the other day, because we had a storm blow through, which effectively disabled my electricity for several hours. :-( - -- Melissa My condolences on the Belgian chocolate ice cream tragedy. There's no doubt about the climate warming up, and the effect on winter sports is beginning to be noticed. The question is whether snow skiers will look for close alternatives such as paddleskiing |
