Homer Hickam (October Sky) has a new book - The Keeper's Son - set in
the Outer Banks during World War II. His web site - www.homerhickam.com - describes the book as a story of love in a time of war. It centers around the people of Killakeet Island in 1942 and the Coast Guard's battle against the U-boats. His main characters are a Coast Guard 83-footer skipper and a marauding U-boat captain. Hickam also wrote Torpedo Junction, still one of the best books about the U-boat wars along the east coast during World War II. |
