Mohawk Solo 13 or 14
It's surely not a tub. If you have never paddled a solo canoe then
tracking across lakes or on large rivers could be a challenge. But very few canoes this short track well. I think you'll be fine with a Solo 13. I've had lots of fun in the canoe... I've used it for freestyle, I've paddled rivers, surfed waves, etc, in a Solo 13. I wouldn't hesitate to paddle one on any day trip. As to the durability... it's not royalex, so it's not indestructable, but I'm sure you'll find it to be plenty durable for normal usage. PK |
Mohawk Solo 13 or 14

At 150lbs. you should have no trouble with the 13. Mine was fine until I got up to around 200lbs. or so. It is a bit slower than the 14 and does not track quite as well, but I found it to be stable and a lot of fun in small creeks. The one I had was made of "R84" Royalex and weighed only about 35lbs.,which made it very easy to carry. However I do not recommend the "R84" for it's durability. Unfortunately they only make it in R84. Hopefully it will last for a few years. Thanks! |
