A Parker wouldn't make that bad a coastal cruiser, especially if you

Sounds like a plan. Why don't we meet up somewhere down in the
southern Caribbean next February. Your outboard Parker will be quite
a conversation piece down there.

You miss the coastal part? I would cruise Iowa, which is between the
two biggest rivers in North America, first, then on to Halifax. You
can also trailer a Parker.

Probably the best production boat in that size range for the type of
cruising you describe is the Rosborough RF-246 Sedan Cruiser.

We've seen a bunch and people just love them, very neat little boats.
There are a number of different power options including an inboard
diesel if memory is correct.

Here is some good info on diesel prices.

http://www.dieselserviceandsupply.co...el_prices.aspx

Worldwide demand for diesel has gone way up.

Good information, thanks.

It is obviously biased away from popular folk wisdom however since
there was no category in the pie chart breakdown called "Greedy

have missed an obvious item like that in an otherwise well researched
article. :-)

Agent just ate my reply with a typo, and in 13 yeaars, I have never
figured out how. Our Lincoln Navigator has four cams and 32 valves and
only manages to get 14 at 70. The thing some real walnut trim,
steering wheel, little plates containing the window and door lock
switches. Nice looking. So, I sometimes call it:' The Sliverado.'

My Silverado gets 14 mpg - when I'm pulling the travel trailer. But, that's
40% better than my
4Runner got, so I'm not complaining.

My 1999 Expedition sucked fuel. 14,5 mpg was about normal. In 100,000
miles the best I ever got on a long trip was 16.5 mpg, and that was from Los
Angeles to Pleasanton and I do not think I ever got over 65 mph. My 300 HP
327 SS 1964 Impala got better than that, and would do 142 mph.- Hide quoted text -

- Show quoted text -

My 'vette has 436 HP, does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, and has a top speed
of 190 mph. I'm getting 22 mpg around town and nearly 27 on the
highway. Of course, it only weighs 3200 lbs and it's easy to push
through the air. You just can't compare these big, heavy, blunt SUVs
to cars. Apples and oranges.

Gee, my less powerful little sports car gets to 60 as quickly as yours,
and gets better mileage, too. Of course, it also isn't suitable for
pulling a heavy boat trailer, so why bother mentioning it? Oh...you
wanted us to know you had a plastic sports car!

It's pretty funny... notice how he fails to mention exactly what "less
powerful little sports car" he has? That's because if he really has
one, it isn't nearly a 4.3 second car. Not taking anything away from
small, nimble British or other marque sports cars, but they are
typically 6-10 second cars. They are great fun to drive, but even a
base Corvette will eat them alive on a track.

But if he can post a pic of his chubby fingers holding a harry nametag
with that little sports car in the background that has a 0-60 time of
4.5 seconds or less, I know we'd all like to see it!

and my new boat over in my Google Group. I don't post any info in
rec.boats because you and your kind have destroyed this group.

Ahhh. I sold my Jag XK150S. It wasn't *fast* by today's standards, but
it sure was a lovely car and a lot of fun to drive. I was a big fan of
British sports cars for many years, even though most of them were not so
hot in the QC department. Had an MGA, a Triumph TR-4 IRS (a very solid
car), a Lotus Cortina, among others, in addition to the Jag. The MGA
probably was the prettiest car; the Lotus Cortina was the worst, in
terms of reliability. I bought the MGA well-used, and I got the troubles
with it I expected. And then some.

My current "less powerful than your 'vette sports car" is not British.
But it does get 33+ mpg at reasonable highway speeds, 28-29 mpg at
"higher" highway speeds, and will do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Your
'vette might be a half to a quarter second quicker to 60, but, of
course, that depends somewhat on the skill of the driver. Same is true
on the track, of course. If whoever is driving that 'vette isn't good,
it's going to wallow and slipslide away.

It's not British or Japanese. :) And, like your 'vette, is not suitable
for pulling a heavy boat trailer.
