Just got back from today's Shuttle launch this afternoon. From 6
miles away it makes a lot of noise! Unfortunately. there was some
cloud cover, so we didn't get to see the SRB's separate, but it was
still fun. Only one more launch left. See it while you can.

The founder of the company lives in Port Orange in the same flying
community that John Travolta lived in... until he bought his 707. He
gave us a golf cart tour and bought dinner last night. Very nice
place.

Washed all the love bugs off the front of the 'vette and put her up.
1st road trip in her, sweet ride.

On topic? Lots of boats, causeways, bridges, and water. And of
course, Florida.

What's not to like? We were docked in Miami last night and had hoped
we might catch a glimpse of the launch this morning but no luck - too
much cloud cover to the north and too far away. We did catch a night
launch from Titusville two years ago and that was pretty spectacular.

Beautiful weather today as we cruised north up the beaches. Caught a
smallish bonito just south of Palm Beach Inlet, steaked it out, and
are now in the process of broiling it for dinner. Smells delicious.

That is cool. Only one more left.

Wonder wht is going to replace the shuttles. Last I heard the US
government pulled a good chunk of their funding for bailouts and war.
Not that NASA got that much to begin with, but Obama has his priorities
screwed.

Take a look at ANY country, more debt is more problems. So why do we
allow our governments more debt? Selfishness, greed, denial, ignorance?

The city dwellers who run Washington don't ever see the big picture.

Just be careful not to catch a Goliath Grouper, you will be called a
racist. ;-)

(I doubt Plume will even get that joke)

Probably not unless "she" Googles it up. :-)

Darn good parrot though, repeats everything verbatim.

We had a Giant Grouper living under our boat for a few days down in
the Dry Tortugas a few years ago. Every once in awhile it would poke
its head out so you could see it. The mouth on it was the size of a
pie plate, looked like it could have swallowed a football in one
gulp.

Biggest surprise to me was the sound. I had always assumed that the
crackling and popping noise you hear when seeing vidoe of a lauch was
the microphone element being overwhelmed, much like a speaker cone
that is being driven too hard. Nope, that's just how they sound!

Enjoy your cruise, I'm sure you're having fun.

If you ever find yourself in Point Lookout Md go to Scheible's
restaurant. The crab cakes are great but take a look at the 326 pound
J fish in his display case by the cash register. (I assume it is still
there) Doug Scheible was running his head boat (Bay Queen) down in the
Keys and some woman had a 30 pound or so Amberjack on and the mate was
helping her reel it in when he saw the big fish following it up. When
they got it on the boat they immediately hooked it up on a 6/0 rig and
dropped it back to him.
The woman was losing her mind. That J fish came right back and took
that jack like it was a finger mullet.
Long story short it is in the case now.

These days you can't keep one.

I've heard the spearfishermen nearly wiped them out, so the law stepped
in.

We had the same thing happen with Striped Bass. The law stepped in and

What "racist comment"?

I implied that a fish in a "shool" must be Jewish.
How is that racist?
Harry did correct me that it is really spelled "shul" but since it is
translated from yiddish phonetically the spelling could go either way.

You actually get to a Hindu term with that spelling but I suppose I
would be just as racist if I made them Hindu fish

Well maybe not. You have a very low opinion of east Asians.

BTW I am always amazed that you atheists who have no problem saying
horrible things about Muslims, Catholics and Christians lose your
minds if someone uses "Jew" in a joke, not even an offensive joke.

You atheists??? What planet are you calling from?
