Few people realize that gold buys as much gasoline todays as it did 50
years ago. Problem is the fiat paper currency and the tendancy for
government to fraudulently print too much of it.

Debt and government is like heroin to a drug addict. Denial,

I expect this to accelerate any time. China is increasingly aware that
the US will never pay back money it borrows today in value. Sure lend
the government $108 today, and in 10 years you know that bond/T-Bill
principle plus yield after taxes will not even come close to buying a
barrel of oil.

Same for gold.

Unlike the late 70's early 80's I don't think government can afford to
back the currency up, as the interest rates would be higher than the
entire government revenue in no time.

There were two major ways of getting into the military back then: you
were drafted or you enlisted.

I wasn't drafted. I saw no reason to enlist. That war wasted the lives
of a million Asians and 50,000+ Americans and others for absolutely no
good reason
