No lug bolts at an auto parts store?

I found that one of the lug bolts on my boat trailer had bad threads
so went to get another. First auto parts store said they had none. I
looked at him like he was crazy. Really, a 1/2-20 lug bolt and an
auto parts store has none. I was so shocked I said "are you going to
tell me you don't sell oil either". 2nd auto part store didn't have
it either and even the clerk was surprised but he suggested a Goodyear
tire place. Goodyear didn't have them either by which time I was so
puzzled I asked WTF is going on, is it just April 1 and you guys are
all BSing me?
Goodyear guy says lug BOLTS are not common but suggested Car Quest cuz
he thought someone had bought some there. Sure enuf, Car Quest had em.

Lug bolts are RARE! any more. and yeah, I'm sure the the parts store
sells drums of oil compared to one lug bolt. I'm not surprised that
nobody carried them and probably the only reason carquest had them was
because someone else had requested them so the thought they'd trow a
couple on the shelf just in case somebody actually had use for another
one. And when you walked in, they found their victim.

If you need metric lug bolts, check in with the parts department of most
German car dealers. I could have gotten a set of these for my
car:

They were about $1200 a set. I passed. :)
