For lots of reasons, my wife is getting tired of Cellular 1 and is

with the new cell phones comes new phone numbers, and i thought that
was strange that you can't keep your existing number, but then again,
I don't know much about it. But a couple friends of mine said that
there was a law passed not long ago that would allow you to keep your
existing phone number regardless of who your new carrier was.

Any fact to this? and/or how do I find out?

Thanks!

Put your current number in this form and see if you can..... although
Verizon markets the fact that you can keep your number, it looks like
there may be exceptions.....

My phone has an 866 number, I doubt that is portable.

If you had tried harder, you might have gotten a 666 number.

Hmmm. You think they are bright enough to be in The Devil's Army?

A question about switching cell phone service..

Well, my cell 1 account has been disconnected as of today. I get the
new Verizon phone Saturday and glad of it. My battrered and broken 3
yr old phone will finally be laid to rest. Besides Verizon is offering
a $10.00 discount to turn it inand retire it. I really don't know why
they'd want it. Of course they'll throw it in the trash, but...

AND I believe I get to keep my original phone number.
YES-S-S-S!

In answer to your question earlier...my CID says 'Schnautz Tim' and gives the
phone number which I won't put here. That way it won't get put in you-know-who's
rec.boats data base.

'rec.boats database?" huh... I didn't know there was such a thing.
But USENET is pretty permanent that is for a while......
