Now, I know it is getting colder, but isn't anybody still boating or

Im hoping to do a little boating/fishing...assuming I don't find a major

I wish I knew when I could get there.

Gene,

Use your newsreaders killfile and/or rules function.

In Outlook, just simply highlight the offending message, click on "Message"
from the tool bar, and click "Block sender". As a bonus, Outlook will also
delete all existing messages from that user as well, and from that point you
will never hear from them again...ever!

Under the same tool bar, you can also set up "rules". Here you can put
key-words to ignore in the headers, such as "OT, Bush, republican, democrat,
war, ect". Any messages appearing with those words in the header, will be
deleted before you even see them!

I have found after killfiling about the 25 biggest abusers, and using the
key-word function, I get about 99% boating related messages only!

And I still collect about a couple hundred messages a day...give it a try,
and good luck.

Several PNW folks here, huh?

Sadly, between summer classes, work, replacing the transom of my
Glastron, and various ignition and transmission problems with the Chris,
the farthest out on the water my family and I have gotten this summer is
not far at all. Only to Hat Is. off Everett once for a day trip and a

I'm still boating, Gene. Not big boats, but messing with my jon boat.
Goose hunting, with duck hunting coming up. My 9.9 needs an overhaul,
starting to miss a bit, and doesn't idle well. I'll do that over the
winter. I'll switch to the 4hp soon, it's lighter. When I'm dragging
boat, motor, decoys, guns, etc. through the mud, it's easier.

Wish we had shrimp up here, I'd be on-'em like a lab on ducks!

Leaves have started to turn here, and the nights are in the low
forties. I can't decide if I love this season more, or Spring. Life
ebbs, and flows, like the tides, and for a little while, we are part
of it. Might as well sit back (or not), relax (or not), and enjoy it.

That jon boat was lighter ten years ago, though. :o)
If I ever die of a heart attack, I hope I'm dragging that damned boat
at the time...
Regards,
...carry on.

Like Noah I was out last weekend in a small fishing boat. I have been
fishing not hunting. Mine is a little 14 footer alunimun fishing boat a
7.5 hp merc. Works great in the ga mountains.

But I will be heading out today in the cuddy to take the kids fishing,
and swimming if it gets warm enought.

=======================================

Just got back from a major road and boat trip.

Towed my 24 ft cuddy I/O from NY to the new house in Cape Coral, FL
last weekend, and did some boating on the Caloosahatchie River
and on out to Sanibel Island and Ft Myers Beach.

The trailer trip down I-95 was a long 2 days but went well thanks to
all the shakedown work to get everything sorted out. After initial
trailer stability issues over 55 mph (reported here), the dealer moved
the axles back and the boat forward, yielding a LOT more tongue
weight. Too much in fact. It towed well but the truck was decidely
down by the stern and steering felt light at highway speed. Back to
the drawing board, moved boat back 9 inches and all was well. Tongue
weight ended up at a hair over 10% as measured by a Sherline scale,
and the boat towed very nicely at 70 mph plus.

Our next challenge was hurricane Isabel. We left on Saturday morning
barely a day after the storm struck in North Carolina and Virginia.
Lots of trees down along I95, about a 100 mile stretch in southern VA
with no power, no gas stations, and some major home flooding visible
from the highway. We got through that OK, arrived in Cape Coral on
Sunday night and launched the boat on Monday morning. It was amazing
how much better the boat looked tied up at the dock in front of the
house :-). Boating in SW FL involves a lot of thin water and some
interesting channel marking but we sorted that out and negotiated our
way through the slow speed Manatee zones. On the way out to Sanibel a
school of porpoises played tag with us and several other boats. If
only the Manatees were half as bright, none would ever be hit.

Back on the road this Saturday, we once again headed north, this time
taking the western route through Columbia, SC, past Lake Norman, and
on into Virginia. Today we took a 115 mile loop along Skyline Drive
before rejoining I-81 and the scenery was spectacular. We had the
drive almost to ourselves for over 100 miles, with 20 mile views in
both directions.

Grand total for 9 days was 3,000 miles of driving and 100 miles of
boating. Not a great ratio but at least we are now set for the winter
with a boat in the right place.

Anybody interested in buying a Bertram 33 in nice condition?

Hey Wayne,

When you are at your new house in Cape Coral, turn to a heading of 80
degrees true and wave.
I'll be waving back at a distance of about 120 miles.

Why trailer? Take that 24 footer across the big "O". I am thinking of
doing it your way in my 20 footer.
Last winter we took a motorcycle cruise around the bottom half of the lake
and was amazed at the big boats making the crossing. Stay in touch and
maybe we will meet up this winter.

The charter operation with HL did not work out for reasons beyond both of
our collective control. Last I knew he was the captain of a large sailboat
in the NE, but was preparing to return to Florida.

Best regards,

Eisboch

Sure thing. Drop me a note and I'll send you directions. It's
actually quite easy, we're on a deep water canal about a mile south of
the new bridge in Cape Coral and about 1,000 ft in off the river.
Small dock in front of house, about to get bigger after we move down
in November.
