Well Superior, and Michigan, are a lot deeper than Erie. You gotta really watch your Barometer if you're out on questionable days. The Lake can whip up much worse than the other 3 ( Superior, Michigan, and Huron) in NO time at all. On good days, I have been out more than 12 miles, looking at the Weather Buoy. Good fishing out there. The fish hang around it. An 18 foot Boat is too short for four guys to fish comfortably. |

What a dummy I'm becoming in my past-middle age. My interpretation of " shallow-bottomed " Boats ARE Bass Boats. The other year, in Colchester, Ontario...no LESS than FIVE of the dam things were sunk in ONE Fishing Derby. They have NO depth, or sides at all. The dam fools took them out in 3 to 5 foot swells. It didn't matter if they were foam-cored. 1 guy only retained his 250 Verado because he had a safety chain attached to the Boat. The dam things have no use, in my book. Stick to the " inland " lakes. Erie is NO place for that scrap. And a " Pontoon Boat " with a waist high rail, is only a FLAT platform with a railing. Not even a Boat. BTW...my Boat only drafts 2.5 feet, COUNTING the Stern Drive. I wouldn't want to be out on that thing you own, in a rough Lake !!! |
