If it weren't for the military, you and a lot of other people would be
speaking German right now. Try to remember that.

Let's try reading for comprehension, W'hine.

I *used* to have a higher opinion of the military before I
encountered..." Bert, Herring and flajim.

No negative reference was made about the U.S. military in WW II, the
last real war the U.S. won against evenly matched or even superior
forces. As a point of fact, my mother's brother, the uncle I never met,
was a casualty of WW II.

When my first father-in-law died many years ago, his long-time lawyer
handled many thorny, complex and financially related estate issues with
unparalleled integrity. He was a retired Army general.

I've known other honorable serving and retired military personnel. One
of my neighbors in Florida was a retired master chief who ran a
profitable home repair business based on the high quality of his work
(and that of his crews) and his absolute honesty.

Do I have to explain this further, W'hine, or do you now get it...at last?

Oh...before I forget:

Ich spreche Deutsches...vervollkommne!

When it is critical, seniority counts.

Seniority in a union just means you have managed to stick around for a
long time. It says nothing about the quality of your work or your
competency.

Seniority in the marines just means you re-enlisted.

Seniority in the military means you have been around and done quite a
lot of things. For officers if you make O-6 before 18 years in you are
on the fast track. If you haven't made it by 22 years you are just
marking time before you retire.

In the military seniority means you have been exposed to quite a bit of
stuff. My cousin is finally getting a battalion. He has been at NATO for
the last 18 months and he has been in Afghanistan for two tours and Iraq
for two tours. He is well on his way to O-6 and beyond.

Don't forget about enlisted time for us draftees!!

Luckily, a college degree wasn't required for OCS during the Vietnam days. High
school and a decent GT score seemed good enough, along with the requisite
recommendations and boards.

For as long as it is relevant. It may be stupid to you, but it is part
of the reason why my opinion of the military has deteriorated.

The problem is you are not relevant, and your opinions are worthless in
the grand scheme of things.

So then all the real men in your family came from your mothers side.

Yes. 5 minutes of research proved it beyond a reasonable doubt. Don't
ask for details. Go see for yourself.

Anything political in this group ticks me off, right wing, left wing,
middle of the road. It doesn't belong here, only leads to food fights
and more bad behavior. We've proved it time and again. People who
have nothing to contribute about boats and boating don't belong here
either. That seems to fit Ms. D'plume/Harry to a tee.

I think you're either a liar or deluded. You rarely have anything to
say about the plethora of racist/political posts floating around.

Possibly because he'd rather talk about "boating?"

It's amusing that a young girl who supposedly took her degree in
political science doesn't realize that boaters have enough to bicker
about without entertaining her with political discussion. She ought to
be smart enough to find a discussion group that caters to her need to
argue about politics.

No, I just think you don't belong here, whoever you really are. I
will remind you from time to time of that fact. Leave or learn to
deal with it.

Gee. What's next, are you going to smack the palms of her hands with a
ruler? She really seems to get under your skin, *Sir* Wayne. What about
all the obviously non-boating folks on your side of the political aisle?
You don't seem willing to "remind" them of anything.

Your hypocrisy is showing in neon colors.

He's had plenty of opportunities to be even-handed about OT posts. I
think he's incapable. That was the point of my OT topic, but he seems
too dense to get it.
