Reply: I kayak fish. *Biggest I have landed is about 10# lingcod. *But lots of the SoCal guys land thresher sharks and big White Sea Bass from them. *As well as around get they land a sturgeon at times. *Just make sure the pull is to the front area of the boat. *I do fish out of Hobie Outback, so I can steer and pedal while fighting the fish. *Have fished out of a Scupper Pro, and with wind that is a problem as hard to paddle and fish at the same time. Trying to fish a hole in the kelp and you blow in to the kelp. Well, in defence of the kayak fishing. They go out up to about 3 miles and catch Ray over 150lb, Shark, Conger, even Marlin. Reply: Convenience is tossing the yak in the bed of the truck or on the rack and going fishing without a lot of extra preparations. No low mileage towing, etc. Cheap to launch, no ramp needed. Does give you more exercise. |
