I hate to say it, and it's probably racist, but it sure does look like something
designed by the Russians.

Y'know. you look at 'most' of the ordanance and military equipment the
Rooskies bu,ilt well...they were ugly and crude, but usually v-e-r-r-r-
r-y efficient!

Some military equipment designed during the time of and in the Soviet
empire (and that includes all those countries the Sovs took over) was
quite elegant, if simple, in design.

Most of it was based upon US acquired Hardware.

Ceská zbrojovka Uherský Brod (CZ), the Czech small arms conglomerate
built and still builds some physically attractive and very efficient
weapons.

I have a CZ pistol and it is the equal in every way of the high-end Sig
target pistol I used to own. It isn't stainless steel, like the Sig, but
it is beautifully finished *and* out of the box, it fires faster and is
slightly more accurate. I've been thinking of getting a .45 ACP pistol;
there are many brands, including American brands, from which to choose.
CZ makes a very nice one, and it is on my list to consider.

I've seen and handled other Czech small arms. Many of them are very
impressive. The former Sov states, even when they were Sov states, were
innovative in design and manufacture of pistols, rifles, shotguns, et
cetera.

Some believe that China has an impressive arms development capability.
However, when you dig under the surface you soon find out that most of
their arms are just duplicates of licensed copies of Soviet "designs."

I know next to nothing about China's arms development capability. I have
fired a couple of *real* and old AK-47's made in the PRC and while they
were not works of art, they certainly fired properly. I can't say the
same for a couple of old M16's I got to fire. But I wouldn't judge one
against the other on the basis of the well-used samples I fired.
